Hello!
What: I am looking for crew members to facilitate a demonstration iron pour as an afternoon event during an educational conference being held on the University of Montana campus.
When: June 18 - 20, 2025
Who: There are four paid crew positions (100$/day) and two higher paid “Floor Boss” positions (599$), as well as some room for volunteer support from those with less experience interested in getting a mold on the line.
How: We will be installing a hand stacking 12” cupola on the University grounds adjacent a “cocktail hour” tent for participants concluding the first day of the conference activities in the adjacent Education Building. Some scratch blocks will be made available to carve for conference participants. Setup and preparation will be June 18th. The pour will take place the afternoon of the 19th. Cleanup the morning of the 20th.
There will be access to The UM sculpture facility for mold making the week prior. Chemistry will be provided (Silbind), sand will need to be sourced by the artist (70 mesh silica available locally). Iron is available (limit 100 lbs/Artist; the furnace is small and will bridge around 1000 lbs). Artists must break their own iron for their castings. Open faced/ minimally reactive daytime performance molds are encouraged but nothing is demanded of your Art.
Limited housing is available on a case by case basis.
